‘Accessible City’ – a quest that changes perspectives and shapes the future!

On 6 November 2025, the UrbanElevate team conducted an interactive quest called ‘Accessible City’ as part of the ‘Innovation Development for Sustainable Mobility’ project in partnership with Vacuum Deep Tech Acceleration and the City Development Agency.

The participants were students from educational institutions in Zhytomyr, who did not just play, but explored!

After receiving instructions about the Barrier-Free Album, the teams set out to evaluate locations in the city, namely:

  • the square on Lyatoshynskyi Street;
  • the ‘Castle Hill’ square;
  • the square on Soborny Square;
  • the ‘Novy Boulevard’ square.
  • They assessed real accessibility: they checked the covering of the pathways, the availability of kerb ramps, places for people in wheelchairs to rest, and the comfort of transit routes.

They also generated some creative ideas! The young people came up with ideas on how to make parks more inclusive, suggesting navigation features and elements for ‘waiting areas’ and comfortable walkways for elderly people and parents with baby carriages.

At the end, the teams presented their results and insights, becoming a real voice for change!

All young innovators received certificates and gifts for their active civic position!
