Results of the online presentation: How to build an innovation ecosystem in your city?

Is it possible to bring together universities, city authorities, and businesses to solve the problems of sustainable urban mobility?

On December 24, an online workshop was held to discuss the results of the UrbanElevate project. Together with representatives of the public sector, departments of economy and transport, urban planners, and educators, the UrbanElevate team analyzed the case of Zhytomyr and the role of the Triangle of Knowledge model in the development of a modern community.

Thirty-seven participants from 11 cities in Ukraine registered for the workshop, confirming the huge demand among communities for innovative development tools.

The speakers shared practical experiences that can already be scaled to other cities in Ukraine:

  • Ivan Novosyolov (Project Manager, UrbanElevate) focused on the “soft” part — people and education. He presented successful cases of school involvement and talked about how education is becoming a driver of change in the city.
  • Alina Kiselova (Project Manager, Vacuum Deep Tech Acceleration) revealed the “technological” side of the project. Using the example of an acceleration program, she showed the path of a startup from an idea to real integration into the city\’s infrastructure.

The main insight of the meeting is that the synergy between government, science, and startups is not just a theory, but a real resource that allows the city to find effective and innovative solutions. The project\’s experience has proven that Ukrainian youth are already ready to actively participate in change, and all they need is an effective platform where bold ideas will be heard and supported.

Thus, the Zhytomyr case has turned into a clear roadmap and a ready-made algorithm that other Ukrainian communities can now use on their path to innovative development and the construction of modern urban infrastructure.

Together, we are making Ukrainian cities smarter and more comfortable.
